    Transport interchange

    Paris-La Défense

    RATP

Architects: Maxime Ketoff and Marie Petit

  • One of the busiest interchanges in Paris lies under the esplanade at La Défense, where subway and regional express trains, trams and buses set down and pick up commuters using public transport. The recent restructuring of installations gave rise to the opening of a new entrance covered by a glazed roof, which enables direct access from the central esplanade. Designed as a simple sloping plane, the glass roof has a perfectly smooth external surface; its bearing structure is in finely worked stainless steel. The transparency of the roof allows daylight to flood in to the waiting hall at lower basement level.
