'Cour de la Forge' (architecture school)
Ministère de la Culture - EMOC
Architects: Beckmann, N'Thépé et Vialet
In order to increase the school of architecture and create a pole of research, the 'Maréchalerie' and the 'Forge' of Versailles Palace has been refit. This rehabilitation strongly respects the historical buildings. In this spirit, the cover of the court of the 'Forge' is more a juxtaposition without deterioration. Steel hinged jibs come from the ground to deploy a network of beams and cables that support a translucent tablecloth in air cushions ETFE (Ethylene - Tetra Fluor Ethylene). Only some points of support interact with the historical court, and this structure can be entirely removed without influence on the original monument.
